Have a browse through all the surrounds featured on our website and make your selection of design and finish from our extensive range. Our Fire Surrounds are exclusively available through our network of carefully selected Retailers (UK only). Replacing a fireplace usually requires a home survey and specialist technical advice, and we believe that this is the best way to ensure that your fireplace is properly specified and fitted. Every design has its own standard size but almost all of the surrounds can be made to your own specific requirements. If this is the case your Retailer or Installer will guide you in finalising the correct measurement to suit your installation. However, if you would like to prepare for your visit to a showroom or stockist by measuring up, then the following guide will help:

The surrounds will accommodate a marble back panel and hearth, which is the most popular choice to accompany a gas or electric fire.
Solid fuel, with its more intense heat source, requires a thicker back panel and more accommodation within the surround. Where it states in the dimension table that there is a removeable rebate then this extra depth is already available within the surround.
Yes! We have a full range of surrounds that are for electric fires only. These include an integral MDF back and hearth that is finished to create the appearance of marble. These generally feature our range of Focus Flame inset fires.
Yes! If that is your preferred choice, we have a range of FocusFlame electric inset fires
Our Wall-mounted electric fireplaces include electric fires as do some of our Inset range (see individual models for further details).
We do NOT supply eReflex fires, we design and manufacture surrounds for the products listed, speak to your retailer/fitter in order to specify these fires and surrounds.
Yes! Fashions change and there is currently a strong demand for larger electric fires. We make designs that are wall-hanging and others that are floor-standing.
Most of the images you will see feature the eReflex 70W and 110W from Gazco, but we have also adapted these designs to accommodate fires from British Fires, Flamerite and Evonics.
We do NOT sell any of our fireplace and beams products online and do NOT supply online resellers – this is because we believe that in order to specify and install a fireplace, you need the advice of a specialist supplier/fitter – find one near you by checking out our Stockists List here.
Focus Fireplaces Oak beams do come in a wide variety of profiles, lengths, ageing and finishes, so our website is designed to guide you through the process of beam selection. There is even a specification form that you can print or email to your retailer.
Many of our retailers have a display stand in their showroom to further assist you in making your choice. We can even fabricate hollow (box) beams where weight may be an issue.
FocusCast products are designed for use where clearances from a stove do not allow the use of timber beams. Actual clearances for timber beams cannot be recommended here as the heat output varies from stove to stove.
For a 5kW stove, we would recommend fitting a FocusCast beam/surround no nearer than 250mm above the stove, and 150mm each side.
Allow more clearance for a stove with a higher output/rating.
Focus Fireplaces have developed a variety of fixing systems, depending on which style of beam you choose. In most installations, we recommend our proprietary Easy-fix system. It simply requires your fitter/installer to drill the wall and secure the Easy-fix bracket before securing the beam onto the bracket with grommet screws. This system allows the beam to be removed for re-decorating.
The lighter fascia beams come complete with strong metal keyhole plates, but an Easy-fix bracket can be requested.
No. As the FocusCast beams and surrounds are made in specific moulds, they are only available in the styles and sizes as published in our brochures and on the website.
The website showcases some of the furniture that we have developed to accompany our surround designs over the last few years. We also offer a made-to-measure service on these pieces. Alternatively, if you would like us to make something bespoke to your requirements, please let us know what you would like and we will happily review your request and confirm whether we can help with your enquiry.
If your shelves are part of your fireplace installation, then please discuss your requirements with your Supplier/Installer.
If, however (as a homeowner) you are simply interested in specifying some shelves for a project, then please contact us here with as much detail about what you are trying to achieve.
COVERING A STEEL BEAM: When two rooms are knocked through into one or perhaps when the wall of a house is opened up to allow access into a new conservatory; then this will often involve the use of a steel beam (sometimes called an RSJ or a girder).
There are only two ways to cover this steel beam. It could be covered in plasterboard, skimmed and painted, or alternatively it can be ‘dressed’ with a timber cover specially made to exactly your dimensions and finished in a style and colour to suit your décor.
Oak is always our favourite timber for a beam cover, but we do appreciate that there are situations where aesthetically pine is the only choice. We can create some lovely mellow tones on pine and it is also a more cost-effective option.
You can further enhance the authenticity of your beam cover by adding in subtle details such as indents or pegs.
In most circumstances Building Regulations would require that the steel beam is either fireproofed with fire resistant plasterboard or painted with intumescent paint prior to dressing it with a beam cover.
Please visit your local stockist to request a brochure, if they are unable to provide you with a brochure, please contact us here and we will send one out to you in the post. All of our brochures are available to review online here.
We have access to a wide range of interior paints, including those from Farrow and Ball. If you have a specific colour that you would like to match your fireplace to then discuss this with your Retailer/Supplier and we will provide a solution.
